Steel Road Plates
Street Plates also known as road plates, rock plates, or trench plates give you a durable, temporary driving surface wherever you need one fast. Whether it’s a pothole, an open trench, or a section of roadway under construction, our steel plates get vehicles moving safely over the gap.
What They’re Used For
- Temporary pothole covers
- Open trenches and excavations
- Roadways under construction or repair
- Certain walkways where a solid temporary surface is needed
Street plates are often used alongside Rattle Track® or Rattle Grate® on the same job site, one handles the trackout problem at the exit, the other covers the open trench or excavation nearby.

Built to Last
Our road plates are made from the highest quality materials at a competitive price, fabrication quality that holds up better than a lot of other manufacturers’ plates on the market. That matters when a plate is getting driven over repeatedly by heavy trucks and equipment; a cheap plate flexes, cracks, or shifts under load. Ours doesn’t.
Frequently Asked Questions
What's the difference between a street plate and a road plate?
Nothing! They’re the same product. Depending on the region or the crew, you’ll hear it called a street plate, road plate, rock plate, or trench plate.
How thick are these plates?
All of our steel plates are 1 inch thick, sized from 4ft x 6ft up to 8ft x 12ft depending on what your job needs.
Can these be used for a trench and a pothole on the same job?
Yes, the same plates work for both. Order the size that matches your specific gap or excavation.
Do I need a trackout device too?
If your site also has dirt or debris coming off tires at the exit, Rattle Track® or Rattle Grate® handles that separately, they’re commonly used together on the same site.
Is delivery available outside California?
Yes, distribution covers the U.S. and Canada, not just Southern California.
