Rattle Track® is a construction track out device built to keep mud, dirt, and debris off your tires, and off the public road, at the exit of your job site. If you’re dealing with SWPPP compliance, NPDES trackout requirements, or AQMD Rule 403 dust control, this is the fix that actually holds up job after job.

Also known as a rumble track, Rattle Track® is used across California and nationwide as a trackout control device and PM10 dust abatement solution — built to stand up to real jobsite traffic, not just pass a one-time inspection.

The Problem Rattle Track® Solves

Every GC has been there: a sub tracks mud onto the street, a neighbor calls the city, and now you’re explaining yourself to an inspector. A gravel construction entrance sounds cheap until you’re re-rocking it every few weeks because the rock keeps getting pushed into the mud. That’s lost time and lost money on a problem that shouldn’t still be a problem.

Rattle Track® stops dirt at the source — the tire — before it ever reaches the street. No more re-rocking. No more explaining yourself. No more wondering if today’s the day the inspector shows up.

Built for Compliance

Rattle Track® is designed to help your site meet:

  • SWPPP (Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan) requirements
  • NPDES trackout control standards
  • AQMD Rule 403 — PM10 dust abatement, specifically enforced in the South Coast Air Basin and across Los Angeles County construction sites
  • BMP (Best Management Practice) standards required on most California job sites

If your project is in Southern California, this isn’t optional paperwork — it’s an active area of enforcement. Rattle Track® gives you a real, on-site answer when inspectors ask what you’re doing about trackout.

How It Works

Rattle Track® uses 14 heavy-duty steel bars per unit, built from 2″ x 2″ angle iron, to knock dirt, mud, and debris off tires as vehicles exit the site. Dirt stays on the job site. The street stays clean. Your crew keeps moving without a rock exit slowing down every truck that comes through.

  • Each unit measures 10′ wide x 8′ long
  • Three units create a 10′ x 24′ pad — enough for roughly 2½ tire rotations on a semi
  • Bars can be replaced individually — no need to buy a new unit when a few bars wear out
  • Easy to clean, easy to relocate to your next job site or new phase of the same project

Purchase or Rental — Your Call

Not every job needs a long-term investment. Rent Rattle Track® for shorter jobs or one-off projects. Buy if you’re running multiple sites or know you’ll need it again down the line. Either way, it’s built to outlast a single job and get reused across sites.

Where It’s Used

Rattle Track® has been deployed on highway construction jobs, commercial builds, and high-rise projects — anywhere trucks are moving heavy volumes of dirt and debris in and out daily. If your site sees real traffic, this is built to handle it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I really need a trackout device, or can I just use a rock exit?

Rock exits work until they don’t. Give it a few weeks of truck traffic in wet weather and you’re re-rocking the pad every other week. Rattle Track® stays put, doesn’t need replacing, and you’re not paying for gravel deliveries every time an inspector shows up.

Same idea, different bite. Rattle Track® is your standard setup — good for most sites. Rattle Grate® is for the muddy, clay-heavy jobs where regular bars just get packed solid. If your subs are tracking mud no matter what you try, that’s when you step up to the grate.

That’s the whole point of it. It’s built to handle PM10 dust control and stormwater runoff requirements under NPDES and AQMD Rule 403. Inspectors know what it is. Doesn’t mean you skip your other BMPs, but it covers the trackout piece.

Yes. If it’s a short job or you’re not sure if you’ll need it long-term, rent it. If you’ve got multiple sites running or you know you’ll need it again, buying makes more sense long-term. Call the office, they’ll walk you through both options.

Each unit’s 10′ wide, 8′ long. Run three of them and you’ve got a 24′ pad — enough for a semi tire to rotate 2 and a half times before it’s back on the road clean. Need more coverage, you just add units.

Both. It’s been used on highway work, commercial builds, high-rises — anywhere with real truck traffic in and out. If your GC needs the exit to hold up under heavy use, this is built for that.

The bars can be replaced individually. You’re not buying a whole new unit because a few bars got beat up. That’s part of why it holds up over a long job.

If you’re in that region, yeah — that’s exactly where AQMD Rule 403 gets enforced hardest. Southern California job sites get checked. Having this in place before an inspector shows up saves you the scramble.
